New Heald Green Youth Worker meets the bosses

Thursday, 17 Sep 2009

After several years of hard work, the Café Unity Project in Heald Green had finally appointed its first full time youth worker.

The Trustees advertised nationally and, taking advice from local experts in social work, a youth worker called Danny Madden had been appointed and had started work in September. Danny met the Trustees for the first time on Thursday and he reported that he had started a research project, an audit, to discover what made the youth scene in Heald Green 'tick'. Because so much youth work had already started Danny was coordinating his efforts with the various church, council and police agencies. He had impressed the Trustees with the progress he had already made in such a short time. He was learning about the various social youth social problems such as drugs, drink and disorderly behaviour. He was forming alliances with some of the youth to help his integration with the youth scene.

Such an excellent social and youth project has the full support of the Heald Green Business Club, another brick in the business scene that will build the area into a thriving business community.
