NewsWolstenholmes closure hits the national news Friday, 8 Jan 2010
Heald Green hit the national headlines this week, featuring on Radio 4, following the closure of Wolstenholmes solicitors.
It was reported that the Solicitors Regulation Authority suspected serious malpractice and had stepped in to help clients who were in danger of their transactions not going as expected. Wolstenholmes had recently expanded their conveyancing work by selling over the internet. Whilst their publicity emphasized their long standing as solicitors, local residents were aware that in the past few years there had been a change of ownership. Radio 4's 'You and Yours' interviewed clients whose house transactions had been unable to complete. One lady had had to use bed and breakfast accommodation because she was now homeless. The local Heald Green Business club were disappointed that the reputation of the local business community may have been tarnished. One of its members, Sarah Rahman, of 'The Body Whispers' was particularly concerned and commented 'we have really important documents there.' Previous Item Next Item |
